Travels with E (Day 13)

Sunday, 7 August, 2022 – Based on the pictures, it appears E continues his gastronomical trek through Europe. I have a feeling that, as he has planned this trip, he has been keeping a short list of foods which he plans to order in their country of origin, including escargot. If you don’t love snails, you probably are not salivating at their appearance in E’s pictures but D and I are, for sure. I think I found the restaurant where he ate; it is called Bouillon Julien.

Without wandering too far from his hostel, E also found a famous open air market, called Marché couvert les Enfants Rouges. It was built in the early 1600s – pretty cool! The Paris Tourism site has a short profile of the market but the best pictures are on Yelp.

He sounds much better in his texts; I think being able to stay a few days and explore the city the way he likes – by searching for food and a nice place to eat – all helped him recharge. This is what he wrote: “Time in paris turned good in the last couple days. I leave from gare du Lyon at 11:40 direct to Arles. Then there’s a bus an hour and a half or so after I arrive to the farm. I’ll have time to get food and look for a pocket knife which I’ve been wanting and take the bus from gare de l’est since it’s close to me.”

Sounds like E has his feet under him again. 🙂
