Travels with E (Day 83)

Sunday, 16 October 2022 – Elias is in Genoa today. I have no idea what made him decide to go there. I hear “Genoa” and I think of Shakespeare’s Two Gentlemen of Verona and Shakespeare in Love, when at the beginning of the movie, Gwyneth Paltrow’s character is watching a play, which I think is Two Gentlemen of Verona. Both are funny, in different ways. Probably not what motivated Elias though, right?

Now that I say that, I remember Elias saying he thought he would stick close to the coast as he traveled toward Paris. He likes being near the water, it guarantees fresh seafood for dinner, and it helps narrow down the choices.

When I found him, Google said he was here: Via all’Arsenale di Terra 1-3, Genoa.

This hotel looks pretty fancy. I am not sure this is where he is staying, but maybe he found a deal. Below is a map showing how far he traveled today from Orvieto to Genoa.

A picture of Genoa from a blog called Wanderlust. It really captures the sense that Genoa is a port city. I assume the colors have been touched up in PhotoShop, but who knows?
