Tuesday, 2 August, 2022 – E left Hamburg for Amsterdam today. It appears that the train took him further south, to Dusseldorf and then up to Amsterdam. I found shots of the train station. These are all from Google. Hopefully, he will post some pictures soon. I feel a little weird posting pictures from Google but I also want to be able to picture him there. I have not been to the “Continent” – apart from Italy – and it is sort of fun trying to figure out where he is and what it looks like.
I can tell already E is going to like Amsterdam. The beautiful train station was built in the late 19th century. There are a lot of people riding bikes in the pictures. Now that it is 2am, E’s time, I can look up where he is probably staying in Amsterdam: https://staygenerator.com/hostels/amsterdam?lang=en-GB If I had to guess, he chose a bunk bed in a shared dorm room, for 18 euros per night – the cheapest accommodation. I know the pictures can be deceiving but I hope they are not too far off the mark. And the hotel looks like it is near a lot of things to do and see.
I am not sure how he is going to get to Arles in 6 days, though…
