Thursday, 22 September, 2022 – As I expected, Elias made good on his goal to meet new people. His text this morning:
Elias: I met some girls in my hostel from DC and they invited me out last night. We ended up doing a bar crawl thing and were out until 4 or so. I did the walk up to the castle yesterday and that was cool.
Me: Did you have fun last night? I’m glad you got out. And I am happy to pay for the cemetery thing. I know you will say no but I’m offering.
Elias: Yeah it was a lot of fun. I thought it was going to be an expensive night so I was a little worried but these girls paid for everything
Me: You’re excellent company! I am proud of you.
To say I am relieved would be a vast understatement. He has many days ahead to travel but I am keeping my fingers crossed that he turned a corner last night, realizing it could be as simple as starting up a conversation with someone to make the trip easier and more fun. (I say “simple” but it is not simple for me, and I think it is not simple for him. I am so pleased, impressed even, he did it.)
He posted quite a few pictures today. I love seeing his images but I need some time to figure out where he was when he took them. Except for the last three pictures, which I am pretty confident are pictures of Prague.
Side note: I think Elias has taken a lot more pictures than he has had bandwidth to post to us. I wonder if we could add an appendix to these posts, when he is home and we can attach more pictures, with descriptions, so he could have a catalog of the trip. Maybe? We’ll see.
